While it is customary for college students to choose the Mexican beaches for their spring breaks, student groups from Harvard Hillel, Boston University Hillel, Orange County Hillel and Long Beach Hillel decided to go on an “Alternative Spring Break” with Project TEN in Mexico and Uganda for a week of social action...

As part of the Project TEN Tailor Made track, last month we hosted student groups from Harvard University Hillel, Boston University Hillel, Orange County Hillel and Long Beach Hillel.

The Harvard, Orange County and Long Beach groups joined Project TEN-Cadena Oaxaca Center in Mexico and helped execute our playground project, and constructed swing sets outside the pre-school of San Jose Palo Grande. Our playground project aims to create a child-friendly environment and to support their development. Palo Grande is a community we engage with in education and health campaigns, and is home to twenty-two children who will now be able to enjoy this new facility for the kids’ communal use.

Watch the great film that the Harvard group made!

The Boston University group experienced Uganda with Project TEN. Together with Project TEN-BRIT Uganda Center's participants, they worked on a unique reforestation project in the Masaka country side. It was an important and fun two days and we planted over 5700 trees!
